What is a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)?

A Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is the formalisation of your reconciliation journey as an organisation. It provides a framework around building the capacity of your organisation to respect, build effective relationships and create opportunities with First Nations peoples, communities and other organisations. A Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is a journey and working partnership with Reconciliation Australia, endorsement and accreditation is provided and maintained by Reconciliation Australia who is the governing body administering the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) movement.

How many stages of Reconciliation Action Plans (RAP’s) are there?

Within the RAP framework there are four RAP types or stages. The 4 Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) stages are; Reflect RAP, Innovate RAP, Stretch RAP and Elevate RAP. This ongoing process allows organisations to continuously develop and expand on their reconciliation commitments. Each Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) type or stage is designed to suit an organisation at different stages of their reconciliation journey.
